Michael Susca is a person who used to stutter. After 20 years working with people who stutter, Dr. Susca completed his Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). He then continued working as a therapist, professor, and researcher in the field of stuttering and communication disorders. Today, Dr. Susca is known as a leading expert in stuttering, cluttering, and other fluency disorders. He maintains a clinical practice in Santa Cruz, California.
Dr. Susca has presented various papers in professional journals and at state, national, and international venues. Currently, he serves clients of all ages in his private practice. He makes differential diagnoses to determine and develop custom treatment programs. Dr. Susca develops customized therapy programs. These programs provide the most meaningful and functional strategies to improve communicative efficiency and effectiveness. Individualized treatments specifically meet the needs of the client and those with whom the client communicates.
Dr. Susca is a board-certified specialist in stuttering, cluttering, and fluency disorders. His primary focus has been serving people with these communicative disorders. He has also served as a legal expert witness in this specialty. His secondary focus has been and continues to be serving people with aphasia, especially those who are no longer eligible for insurance coverage but still seek treatment. Finally, Dr. Susca continues to treat children with poor or reduced intelligibility due to articulation delays or disorders. Dr. Susca has served populations of people with diverse communication difficulties throughout his entire professional life.
